by Chad Tweed

Tea is a drink that people from all over the world enjoy.
We usually think of it as an English ritual but it~s
certainly not limited to them. There are a number of teas
that can help you sit back and just enjoy. In fact there
are 3,000 or more that people of all ethnicity enjoy.

There are a number of tea categories including: (1) black
tea, (2) oolong tea, (3) white tea, (4) compressed teas,
(5) flavored teas, and (6) green tea. Herbal teas are
another category and they contain at least one plant.

Most tea that people drink is a black tea. It is vibrant,
full-flavored and the aroma is heavenly. Many like it
served with sugar and milk, depending on their country of
origin. Some tea drinkers even dilute black tea with a
milder blend to cut the strong flavor.

Leaves from a plant found in Thailand make oolong tea. Tea
connoisseurs only drink it ~straight~ believing that it
shouldn~t be mixed with any others. It~s also known as a
semi-fermented tea.

Green tea is believed by many to be the healthiest tea. It
is green in color, not fermented and is full of stimulants
and other healthy ingredients. It~s often used to cleanse
the palate so is served after meals, and cream and sugar
are not added.

Flavored teas are becoming more and more popular for
the flavor burst that they bring to green, black, or
oolong teas. There are many different flavors that you
can add to these teas that include spices, flowers, or
dried fruits. Some flavor sensations that are popular are
Jasmine tea, Vanilla tea, Ginger tea, Mango tea, and
Lemon tea. Many people add a touch of sugar or honey
to their flavored teas to give them a sweet treat to enjoy
during a busy day. Experiment with several flavored
teas to see which ones are your favorites.

Cafes and restaurants all over the world serve tea. Any
time you visit new countries, consider sampling some of
their teas that you may not find at home. Tea is becoming
more popular and may overtake coffee as adult~s favorite
drink.
